Andy Lemonds is Senior R&D Leader for Dow’s gas treating business, providing essential products and technology to the energy sector for CO2 and H2S management. He is accountable for the organization’s business development and innovation portfolios and holds staff supervisory responsibilities. This work centers on Dow’s UCARSOL™ and SELEXOL™ families of acid gas absorption solvents for hydrocarbon and industrial gas processing. It includes offerings for the established natural gas and oil refining sectors, plus those for emerging carbon capture and sequestration applications. Andy joined Rohm & Haas Company in 2003 as a research engineer and entered a technical management career in 2009 upon Dow’s acquisition of Rohm & Haas. He spent ten years in acrylic monomers R&D, with heavy focus on process technology for alternative hydrocarbon and biologically-based feedstocks for (meth)acrylic acid and esters. He moved to the gas treating business in 2013, leading its North America and Europe technical service organization. His academic and industrial experiences include thin film deposition for solid state devices, surface and interfacial analysis of thin films and heterostructures, catalysis, distillation, process design and modeling, technoeconomic analysis, and gas treating. Andy holds Chemical Engineering degrees from The University of Texas at Austin (PhD, 2003) and North Carolina State University (BS, 1999).
