Dr. Alison Cozad

Dr. Alison Cozad holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University where she leveraged mixed-integer and semi-infinite optimization methods to improve machine learning algorithms. Prior to joining Gurobi, she held multiple roles at ExxonMobil, including as a Senior Data Science Lead and Real-time Optimization Engineer.

In her free time, Alison loves making things from CNC woodworking to electronics to cheese making to sock puppetry.

Dr. Cara Touretzky

Dr. Cara Touretzky holds a BChE from University of Delaware and PhD in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. During her graduate work she studied dynamic optimization and model-based process control, with applications ranging from HVAC system automation to production scheduling for chemical processes.

Prior to Gurobi she worked as an Application Engineer for ExxonMobil managing nonlinear controller deployments for plastic plants in the gulf coast. Outside of work, Cara can be found teaching classes at the local pottery studio and studying music history.Read more

AIChE Cleveland Section November 2021 Meeting, H2 Powered SARTA Fuel Cell Electric Bus Fleet; Joint Meeting with Akron

The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA), under Kirt Conrad’s leadership, has added 11 Fuel Cell driven buses to its bus fleet. This will be the largest fleet in the country outside of California. SARTA along with Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research lunched the Midwest Fuel Cell Center of Excellence and the Renewable Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Collaborative in 2017. Not only are fuel cells considered safer than gasoline-powered vehicles, they are also 2x-3x more efficient!

DNV Executive Summary for Energy Transition from 2021 to 2050

Global emissions peaked in 2019, followed by an unprecedented 6% drop in 2020 due to COVID-19. Emissions are now rising again and will grow for the next three years before starting to decline. While they are being added at great speed, renewables currently often supplement rather than fully replace fossil fuel power generation. By 2030, global energy-related CO2 emissions are likely to be only 9% lower than 2019 emissions, and by 2050 only 45% lower.
