Bala Balasubramaniam

V.M. (Bala) Balasubramaniam received a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, India, M.S. in Post-harvest Technology from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and PhD in Food Engineering from The Ohio State University.

Prior joining OSU as a faculty member in 2002, Dr. Bala was working as a post-doctoral associate at University of Georgia Center for Food Safety and Quality Enhancement, Griffin, GA (1994-95) and Associate Research Professor at IIT National Center for Food Safety and Technology, Chicago, IL (1995-2002).

David Phinney

Originally from West Los Angeles,­ Phinney fell in love with vines and wine while studying in Florence, Italy, for a semester during college. It didn’t take long for him to switch his focus to agriculture once he returned to the states. He would go on to plant experimental vineyards while still in school, and, after graduating, worked as a harvest intern at Robert Mondavi Winery and then Whitehall Lane, both in the Napa Valley.

Jennifer McEntire, PhD, is Vice President of Food Safety at United Fresh Produce Association. A food microbiologist by background, she has worked in the Washington, DC area for nearly 20 years, bringing the scientific perspective to food safety regulatory issues. She was previously Vice President of Science Operations at the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
