James Nunez

Dr. James Nuñez is an Assistant Professor in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley. He earned his B.S. in Biology from the University of Colorado, Denver while conducting research with Tatiana Kutateladze and Catherine Musselman on epigenetic reader proteins. He received his Ph.D. in 2016 from Jennifer Doudna’s lab at UC Berkeley, where he determined the molecular mechanism of foreign DNA capture by the Cas1-Cas2 integrase complex during CRISPR–Cas immunity in bacteria. Jing-Ke Weng

Jing-Ke Weng received his B.S. (2003) in Biotechnology from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He received his Ph.D. (2009) in Biochemistry from Purdue University, and was a pioneer postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and Howard Hughs Medical Institute between 2009 and 2013. Currently he is a member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, and an Associate Professor of Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Piet van der Meer

Piet van der Meer is trained as a biologist and a lawyer at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, with specialisations in microbiology and ecology, as well as in environmental and international law.
