Vertical Pump

Its compact, vertical, close-coupled design allows this pump to easily fit into confined areas, where it can be flange-mounted to closed tanks or affixed to mounting beams above open tanks. The pump has a flow range of 20–350 gal/min and pressure capability to 150 psi, and is compatible with vessels up to 20 ft deep. Mechanical seal replacement is simple and can be done without removing the pump from the sump or its mount. The pump can handle high-viscosity, high-solids-content materials, as well as abrasive fluids.

H-Flo packed-plunger, positive-displacement metering pumps

A single ball check valve enables the H-Flo packed-plunger, positive-displacement metering pumps to provide heavy-duty, virtually maintenance-free metering of chemicals and solutions. The pumps are available in both simplex and duplex models, with capacities ranging from 20 to 682 gal/h at pressures up to 7,200 psi with an accuracy of ±0.5% at steady state. Pump capacity is adjustable from 0 to 100% by varying the piston stroke length while the pump is stopped. Duplex pumps are normally 180-deg. out of phase, but can be synchronized so that two fluids can be pumped simultaneously.

Model CGA-8×6×13 (ANSI-A-90) and Model CGA-8×5×15 (ANSI-A110) Pumps

Two new sizes have been added to this firm’s line of ANSI B73.1 centerline discharge, rear-pullout horizontal process pumps, Model CGA-8×6×13 (ANSI-A-90) and Model CGA-8×5×15 (ANSI-A110). Flow capacities range to 3,100 gal/min and heads to 350 ft. Fluid contact is restricted to thermoplastics — polypropylene and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) — and other non-metallic materials.

SPX corrosive chemical pump

The SPX corrosive chemical pump features a Bioprene thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) hose element that has excellent chemical resistance to many of the harshest chemicals. And because the hose element is the only component in contact with the pumped product, corrosive and abrasive wear are not factors for the pump’s rotor or body. With no seals to replace, no check valves to clog, and no rotors or stators to wear out, the SPX pump is virtually maintenance-free.

Triplex positive-displacement pump

Made of polypropylene and nylon, and elastomers such as Santoprene, Viton and EPDM, the Triplex positive-displacement pump can handle tough chemicals without corroding. It is manufactured using co-injection mold diaphragm technology, which virtually eliminates potential leak paths. A unique bypass design allows the pump to adapt to a range of flowrates at a constant pressure — up to 2 gal/min and 150 psi. It is available in 12- and 24-VDC, as well as 115- and 230-VAC, models.

E8 3/8-in. Mini-Matic can pump

Despite its small size and light weight (3 lb), the E8 3/8-in. Mini-Matic can pump up to 6.8 gal/min (26 L/min) at pressures up to 100 psi (6.8 bar). It can be mounted upright, sideways or inverted for use in a wide variety of applications. It features the Elima-Matic air valve system to eliminate leakage and deliver non-stalling, non-icing lube-free operation. Wetted components can be made of polypropylene or Kynar, and interiors of Santoprene, Geolast or Teflon.

LVP series stainless steel vane pump

With 14-bar/200-psi thin-liquid capability and capacities to 45 m3/h (200 gal/min), the LVP series stainless steel vane pump is designed for low-viscosity, corrosive liquids at higher pressures than other positive-displacement pumps. Its stainless-steel casing (which is surface-hardened to 62 Rockwell C), chrome-oxide-coated shaft, and silicon carbide bushings contribute to longer service life. Polyaryletherketone (PEEK) vanes offer high strength, low friction for less wear, and broad chemical compatability.

Thermoplastic Pumps - Case History

This case history spotlights an automated, zero-discharge water-reuse and chemical-recovery system at a metal-furniture manufacturing facility. It explains how the system recovers close to 100% of the plating and cleaning chemicals in the waste stream, enabling the plant to recover and reuse a major portion of the 150,000 gal/d of municipal water previously used. It also describes the system’s pumps — horizontal centrifugal pumps with all fluid-contact parts made of solid homogeneous Kynar polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).

“Barnant Newsline,” a newsletter for wastewater treatment plant managers and operators, provides useful and timely data, case studies, and technology news briefs regarding state-of-the-art peristaltic pump technology for critical dosing, chemical delivery and product transfer.

Wet-Mixing Mills

These wet-mixing mills employ new technology for precise particle size and biomass size reduction that can transform a pulpy slurry into a smooth liquid with a homogeneous viscosity. They are suitable for inline processing, and employ an abrasion-resistant milling head with a standard rotor and stator that can be customized to meet a user’s needs. The mills are capable of handling 10–10,000 gal/h throughput.
