(118a) Enabling Digital Transformation: It’s about More Than the Analytics (Poster)

Authors

Guilfoyle, P. - Presenter, Northwest Analytics
Over the past 5 years, the manufacturing industry has come to understand the potential impact of and the value of data analytics in the process environment. What followed was a deluge of vendors, each shilling their particular flavor of analytics – machine learning, multivariate, artificial intelligence, etc. In spite of the multitude of analytics options, most manufacturers continue to struggle with fully leveraging analytics output to deliver actionable insights in any scalable and sustainable way. As the speed of and emphasis on digital transformation increases, those struggles have been exacerbated.

Despite the growth of investments in individual analytics technologies, manufacturers are only experiencing marginal gains in their ability to analyze, understand and implement insights generated from the data. The manufacturers setting the pace in the industry today understand the need to move beyond the simple application of data analytics. They are instead starting to look at enabling their organizations with analytics knowledge.

Through analytics knowledge enablement, those insights can be leveraged anywhere in the company to anticipate and solve potential process upsets faster and with greater predictability. These leading manufacturers understand that generating the initial signal with analytics is only the first step. The larger value comes from the ability to then harvest and harness the knowledge generated across the organization.

This poster will:

Highlight the critical differences between simple analytics usage and manufacturing analytics knowledge enablement;
Demonstrate how manufacturing analytics knowledge enablement delivers competitive advantage;
And the requirements to deliver scalable and sustainable manufacturing analytics knowledge enablement.
