(74b) Benefits of Deploying PACE, a New APC Technology

Authors

Kantara, F. - Presenter, KBC Advanced Technologies
Advanced Process Control, specifically model based multivariable control, has been applied to air separation units (ASU’s) since the technology was introduced to the market in the mid 80’s. ASU’s have presented many challenges to traditional APC. A new generation of control technology was released in 2015 between Shell and Yokogawa called Platform for Advanced Control and Estimation (PACE) that helps effectively deal with many of these challenges. This paper will explore those challenges and describe the features of PACE that are used to overcome them and drive more benefits from each application.
