Reaction Engineering and Kinetics for Combustion, Pyrolysis & Emissions

Chair(s)

Padak, B., University of California, Irvine

Co-chair(s)

Moharir, M., Exxonmobil
Sasmaz, E., University of California, Irvine

Topics covered range from detailed chemical kinetics and reacting flow simulation methods and experimental measurements through practical industrial engineering of high-temperature processes. This session also focuses on formation of pollutants, e.g. nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, trace metals and soot, during combustion as well as mitigation of pollutants. Technical presentations will include experimental and modeling studies of combustion processes such as oxy-combustion, gas turbine combustion etc. Topics covered will include, but not limited to, kinetics of pollutant formation, measurements of pollutants, developing new models to predict pollutant chemistry and emissions. Pollutants formed from various fuels, e.g. coal, natural gas, syngas and biomass will be of interest.
