In this talk, I will share tips and strategies for successfully pursuing, evolving, and refining the vision that brought you to academia. This will intersect with topics regarding group management, including how to empower group members to feel ownership over the way in which the group is run and how to experiment not just in your science, but in the operation of a group. Overall, the strategies outlined here will provide a path to not just advancing your scientific vision, but staying true to the values you hold inside and outside academia.
