Although not the first advisory council ever developed, Professor Rex Reklaitis had a vision: Grow and expand Purdue’s Chemical Engineering Department using its Industrial Advisory Council, called the “New Directions Committee.” This group of individuals was the first alumni group at Purdue that took up the task of raising 100% private funds in order to build an addition on the existing Chemical Engineering Building. Ms. Grubbe, a member of the group for 10 years, will discuss Professor Reklaitis’ huge contribution to Purdue and how he went about it.
