(238d) Perspectives and Suggestions on How to Advance Underrepresented Minority (URM) Faculty at Minority Serving Institutions

Authors

Rinaldi-Ramos, C. - Presenter, University of Florida
The speaker will share perspectives and suggestions on how faculty at predominantly white and research-intensive institutions can contribute to diversity and inclusion by providing mentorship and helping the advancement of underrepresented minority (URM) chemical engineering faculty at minority serving institutions (MSI), beyond the usual circles formed by formal mentor-mentee relationships and academic family trees. These perspectives are based on the speaker's own experiences as a URM faculty and as faculty at a Hispanic Serving Institution, as well as conversations with other URM faculty colleagues throughout the years.
