Living organisms are made from the basic elements such as C, O, N and P, harvesting and consuming energy to realize their reproduction. Driven by massive use of fossil energy (natural gas, coal and oil), industrial revolutions have built the civilization we are enjoying today. Clean energy and good quality of living, in this context, are two of the most essential components. In this talk, I will present my research in energy focusing on lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells, as well in nanomedicines focusing delivery of protein therapeutics. From the angle of material design, a design principle towards better electrochemical devices, as well as a platform technology enabling effective delivery of therapeutics for treatments of alcohol intoxication, gout, central-nerve-system diseases, and COVID-19, will be discussed.
