AIChE Member Named One of “New Faces of Engineering” for 2010

AIChE is pleased to announce that Michael Pepera, a Process Engineer for CH2M Hill in Bellingham, Washington, has been named one of the New Faces of Engineering for 2010 by The National Engineers Week Foundation.

Part of the National Engineers Week celebration, observed this year from February 14-20, “New Faces of Engineering” highlights the work of young engineers and their impact on society.

Pepera maintains a strong commitment to sustainability and focuses on reducing energy consumption through engineering design. He recently worked as the lead Programmable Logic Controller on the Round Butte Selective Water Withdrawal project, a first-of-its-kind fish collector that will help to restore the natural salmon run in Oregon’s Deschutes River and mitigate the environmental impact of energy production.

Pepera, a graduate of the University of Toledo, Ohio, became an engineer because he loves to solve problems and is inspired by seeing his designs – which can seem abstract on paper – work in real life.
