Operational Sustainability® (OS) produced a market research survey focused on benchmarking an organization’s Process Safety Management (PSM) maturity, with respondents from a variety of process industries and organizational sizes.
Two key findings we realized were the majority of organizations use spreadsheets and standalone point solutions for core process safety data management processes, leading to an overall lack of integration between PSM functions. Our research also indicates that companies are realizing Process Safety Information is a complex framework of supporting processes that encapsulates numerous disparate systems - not just file or document management.
To move forward, organizations must accept that effective PSM crosses departmental boundaries, which can make it difficult to get to one source of truth. By adopting the right PSM framework, organizations will enhance regulatory compliance and positively impact their bottom lines.
