From self-driving cars and autonomous robots to lawyer-bots and news-writing bots, Deep Learning, a new type of Artificial Intelligence technology, is driving what some believe will be the biggest technology revolution the world has seen yet.
Key to recognizing the limitations of today’s AI is understanding the difference between autonomy and intelligence. People have both. But AI systems, even if they have very high intelligence for a specific task, tend to be low in autonomy. And that lack of autonomy limits the technology’s ability to take on many broad problems.
This article will introduce the basic concepts of AI and deep learning, and will review how AI may affect the chemicals industry.
