Cryogenic Air Separation Units (ASUs) use some of the largest compressors ever built. Power consumption in large ASUs use almost the entire capacity of a power plant. A modern large ASU might consume up to 100 MW electricity. Thus it is important to understand how much power your ASU might consume and where the power goes. Armed with the knowledge in this paper, you will be able to estimate and analyze the power consumption of your air separation plants and reduce your plants’ energy operating cost.
