Karen Gleason, the recipient of the 2019 John M. Prausnitz AIChE Institute Lecture Award, is researching and innovating the fundamental technologies and techniques that will be integral to the next generation of thin films and coatings. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and her PhD from the Univ. of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) — all in chemical engineering. Today, Gleason is the Alexander and I. Michael Kasser Professor of Chemical Engineering at MIT.
