Optos Series metering pumps employ a positive-displacement, reciprocating piston assembly to provide precise metering at high pressures (up to 6,000 psi). The piston is driven by a high-resolution stepper motor using advanced sine-wave-adjustment speed algorithms to maximize flow output and minimize pulsations. Three models are available for flows of 0.002–20 mL/min, 0.003–40 mL, and 0.01–80 mL/min. The materials in the liquid end are chosen based on corrosion resistance; the piston is sapphire, and the inlet and outlet valves incorporate sapphire seats and ruby balls. The standard piston material is ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, with graphite-fiber-reinforced polytetrafluoroethylene available for specialized applications.
