Constructed of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), all-plastic Fluor-O-Shield basket strainers cost less than units that are lined with steel or other metals, and outperform ordinary plastic strainers made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), polypropylene and acetal materials. Unlike previously available plastic strainers, these can handle corrosive materials, including halogens and many acids, and they can operate at temperatures up to 300°F. They remove suspended or waste solids from corrosive or high-purity fluid streams to prevent damage to sensitive downstream equipment, such as pumps, valves, instruments and spray nozzles. The strainers are impervious to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, are FDA-compliant, and have high rigidity and resistance to creep under mechanical loads. They are suitable for the chemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, pulp and paper, food and beverage, water treatment and similar process industries
