The BDHR series of boiler-blowdown heat-recovery systems are pre-engineered modules that include a plate heat-exchanger or optional shell-and-tube heat exchanger, pressure-relief valve, isolation valve and mechanical or electrical level controls. They recover up to 95% of the heat energy normally lost with conventional continuous blowdown separators. The resulting flash steam can be used to preheat boiler makeup water to heat the feedwater or the deaerator tank, or other fuel-saving uses. Modules are available in eight sizes of centrifugal blowdown vessels ranging from 8 in. to 26 in., with capacities from 100 lb/h to 100,000 lb/h. The flash vessel and plate heat exchanger are ASME Section VII Code-stamped for 150 psig at 550°F. System rating is 125 psig at 320°F. The assembled unit is hydrotested to 188 psig.
