Designed for the induction of difficult-to-wet solids, such as fumed silica, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, gums, thickeners and many pigments, the solids-liquid-injection-manifold (SLIM) system takes advantage of the strong vacuum force that occurs at the intake area and sucks in powders or liquids for immediate emulsification or dispersion. This new model includes all-stainless-steel surfaces and a mirror finish on the interior wetted components. As a result of this clean design, the unit is CIP/SIP-capable.

Bosch Pharma Liquid, Bosch Pharma Solid, Moeller & Devicon, Sigpack Systems and Tevopharm are the five Bosch Packaging Technology companies presenting new technology for pharmaceutical markets at ACHEMA. Sigpack Systems will be introducing a new complete line for blister packages, which includes a horizontal flow wrap system with robotic feeding and end-of-line secondary packaging. New technologies from Bosch Pharma Solid include a new capsule filling machine for micro-dosing applications, a new weighing system for tablets, and a new cartoning machine for blister wallet applications.

The Clean Sweep mixer, a non-rotating, sanitary mixer, now features a proprietary, effective, long-lasting elastomer-backed Teflon seal. The unit has a Teflon diaphragm that provides secure sealing for almost any process. The material of construction meets the FDA/USP Class VI requirements found in many specifications. This proven technology provides a hermetically sealed environment, ensuring peace of mind during production by eliminating the rotating shaft seal. No maintenance is required and the seal is easy to replace, saving time and reducing expense.

Utilizing a unique impeller design, the Clean Sweep mixer provides excellent top-to-bottom motion, as well as global movement at tank walls — even when center-mounted on a cylindrical vessel without the use of internal baffles. These specially shaped blades have been designed to produce thorough mixing throughout the entire vessel, yielding a homogenous mix and providing good off-bottom suspension of many various materials.

GORE Filters are designed for high-purity chemical processing and can be used as drop-in replacements for existing filters. They improve flow by up to 200% compared to other available filter technology — allowing users to reduce processing time or decrease the number of filters required to maintain system flow.

Swirl Air nozzles provide flowrates from 1 to 2,400 gal/h and spray angles from 50 to 100 deg., with precise control of droplet size. They remove harmful gases or particulates and are suitable for the chemical, petrochemical and process industries. For gas cooling applications, nozzles deliver liquid in volumes that are in proportion to fluegas flow, with even distribution and small droplet size. This achieves complete evaporation of droplets for maximum cooling, but without residual excess fluid use or wetting.

Puracarb AM dry-scrubbing media removes ammonia (NH3) along with several types of amines and other basic compounds from various commercial, industrial, and wastewater streams. It replaces the manufacturer’s Purakol AM, and achieves a removal efficiency of 99.5% or more for target contaminants. It has an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 900 Class 1 rating for flammability. 

These liquid/liquid coalescers can be used to capture valuable solvents, to accelerate separation processes and to assist in environmental cleanup applications.
