Globally, millions of pounds of plastic are used in flexible film laminations that are subsequently converted into pouches, sachets, form-fill-seal, bags, sacks, etc. Therefore, flexible packaging has a strategic impact on stakeholders, the environment, and the packaging supply chain. This module showcases success stories e.g. how paper fibers and 40% to 51% mineralized resin(s) provide alternatives to traditional plastic laminations. Also explained is how these novel structures(s) reduce plastic, sustain barrier performance, and expand recycling streams. As explored are design and heat-seal characteristics making it possible to form packaging on high speed converting.
