Description: This session honors Dr. Richard M. Felder, Hoechst Celanese Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University. Rich has been recognized for his sustained contributions to education in the fields of engineering and engineering technology. He is the inaugural winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Engineering Education from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Rich is the co-author of the book Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes and has authored and co-authored more than 300 papers on engineering and science education and chemical process engineering. He has presented more than 650 workshops and seminars on effective teaching methods throughout North and South America, Australia, South Africa and numerous European and Asian countries. He has also co-directed the National Effective Teaching Institute under the auspices of the American Society for Engineering Education since 1991.
The session will feature short tributes from Rich's colleagues in the field of engineering education and will also include active learning and creative elements. Rich will present a mini-keynote address at the conclusion of the session.
