Chemical engineering is often associated with refineries, reactors, and large-scale industrial plants, but today the field is being redefined in ways that extend far beyond its traditional boundaries. During this talk, Christine Santos, Chief Technology Officer at Manus, will share her journey as a chemical engineer and how it has led her to work at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and technology. From engineering cells at chemical factories, to harnessing digital tools and AI, to operating large-scale biomanufacturing facilities, chemical engineers are uniquely positioned to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges - from sustainability and climate impact to health and new materials.
