(57at) Review and Analysis of Recent Cyber Security Attacks

Process plants need to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place for a variety of upset conditions, including cyber security attacks, which can result in loss of product, damage to equipment, downtime, and potential safety and environmental disasters. Select cyber security incidents across a variety of industries will be reviewed to determine the modes of cyber security attack and their subsequent impacts. Specific areas of vulnerability will be identified with corresponding mitigation strategies. Possible solutions will be presented for incorporating cyber security into an existing process safety program to ensure a tolerable level of protection for high-consequence events.
