The predominant technology to remove CO2 and H2S from natural gas is by using Amines. When the CO2 levels are high enough, the use of membranes may be advisable. All these technologies are very expensive. Hydrate have been proposed as an alternative, but they have a large loss of methane, rendering them uneconomical. We will present a new technology based on the use of hydrates that has the same level of methane loss as the amine system, or even smaller, that has similar capital expenditure but around 50-60% smaller cost.
