(82b) Expectations and Responsibilities When Purchasing Process Simulation Software: Working Together During the Software Sales Cycle

Many young chemical engineers are excited to apply process simulation software, on the job, to improve and better understand their plants and processes.  But your company does not have the software you require.  So, as a young engineer, you search online for the right software, which might be different from what you used at university.  But process simulation web sites don’t provide enough engineering detail and rarely show prices.  You need more information to convince yourself and your supervisor (…and their supervisor!) that you have found an appropriate process simulation tool.  This talk will discuss effective ways to work together with any process simulation software vendor to get the essential information you require, and to explain what they might be expecting from you.  Benjamin Wincure is a PhD chemical engineer with over 20 years of experience developing, testing, using, and now, selling process simulation software.  This talk will give you his perspective on some of the best practices that he has found for meeting the customer’s needs and the vendor’s needs.  Welcome to an insider’s look at the sales cycle for process simulation software!
