Even with declining NG prices in the US, Energy Efficiency has continued to increase in importance and priority at chemical manufacturing facilities. Key drivers include ongoing cost competitiveness, regulatory focus on CO2, corporate GHG commitments being made public (CSR reporting), etc. As facilities strive to improve their energy performance, a rigorous approach to energy usage metrics at the lowest level in the plant must be embraced and visible to operations at that level. SABIC's journey to drive sustained energy efficient performance has clearly shown that the significance of weather, production rate, etc is often specific to each production unit and cannot be combined at higher level site metrics.
