Reliable shell and tube style heat exchangers are critical to the operation of olefin plants. Increasingly stringent environmental requirements enacted over the past several years require maintenance and reliability personnel to dramatically reduce the quantity of environmental emissions from these exchangers. These required reductions result in modifications to maintenance practices and can influence long-term Asset Management/Reliability planning efforts. This presentation will discuss the regulatory changes and their effect on shell and tube heat exchanger maintenance practices and long-term Asset planning at the Lyondell Channelview Olefins units. The Lyondell Chemical Channelview facility has two world scale Olefins units and is located within the Harris County (Houston) Texas area.
