Opening Keynote Address

The keynote presentations will address some of the grand challenges the Deepwater Industry is facing today, providing a good basis for discussion throughout both days of the workshop.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speakers will be Kenneth E. Arnold, President of K Arnold Consulting, and Neil Johnston, Construction Manager Deepwater Projects at Shell International E&P.

Kenneth E. Arnold

Kenneth E. Arnold is a part-time senior techni­cal advisor at WorleyParsons as well as an independent consultant to the oil and gas industry.  In 1980 he left a 16 year career at Shell to establish Paragon Engineering Services in Houston. In 2005 Arnold sold the company to AMEC plc, a U.K.–based international project management and services company, and he retired from AMEC in 2007. .

Neil Johnston

Neil is a graduate of the University of Alberta in Canada B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering.  After a dozen years working onshore projects for a gas transmission company and Shell Canada he moved to New Orleans and started his offshore career in coastal and shallow water fields.

In the last twenty six years Neil has had a variety of concept engineering, project management and leadership roles for Shell in their global offshore and deepwater business.  These have included brownfield and greenfield projects primarily in the Gulf of Mexico, Nigeria and Brazil.
