Research Interests: 3D printing applications, biobased materials, utilization of biomass and industrial waste, biomass and composites characterizations

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. I will finish my Ph.D. in July 2023 and start my postdoc position in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in August 2023. I am looking for a postdoctoral position or faculty position at a university or a national laboratory in the field of materials science or chemical engineering to start working next year. During my Ph.D., my main research focus is the utilization of biomass-based and industrial waste in 3D printing applications. Whole biomass such as woody biomass and agricultural residue, industrial waste such as hemp waste after extracting CBD oil and waste paper fibers were successfully reinforced with green polymer matrix to enhance the performance of 3D printed biocomposites. Moreover, the effect of biomass components on the performance of biocomposites was also studied during my Ph.D. in order to help reach the target property of the 3D printed biomass-derived materials. In addition to my primary work, I also did some side projects with our collaborator in regard to biomass characterizations and applications such as lignin hydrogenation for the production of jet fuel and deep eutectic solvent for green chemical treatment. As a result of my research, I have contributed to the material science and chemical engineering field with about 7 journal publications and 8 international conferences.
