Hydrogenation of dimethyl oxalate is the final reaction step in syngas to ethylene glycol (StEG) process. Mesoporous silica supported copper catalysts are prepared via ammonia evaporation method for the conversion. The effect of preparation temperature on the structure of the catalysts and the catalytic performance are investigated. Various characterizations are conducted to elucidate the origin of the effect of temperature.
