The utilization of CO2 as a C1 carbon source through electrochemical reduction could improve industrial sustainability, as the process is readily powered by renewable energy sources. However, limited solubility of CO2 at atmospheric pressure starves electrocatalysts of substrate and results in low conversion rates. We are investigating electrochemical CO2 reduction under elevated CO2 pressures to increase the CO2 solubility and reaction rates. This talk will provide details on some of our recent work in this area.
