(364a) Differentiated Research Strategy

Authors

Tsuji, Y. - Presenter, Osaka University
The sub-title of the presentation is “looking back over my research in 50 years”. I will try to speak about the subject of main-title based on my experiences of experiment and DEM simulation. If you are a professional, you must win just like a professional player of sport. To win the game, the important points are selection of the event and strategy. If you or your team has a big budget, it might be natural for you to do research which is gathering the most attention currently. However if you are not in such a good research environment, my story would be something of a useful reference. In the presentation, I will talk about what I have done in my work to seek something different from competitors. Through my experience, I have finally reached the following conclusions. (1) Research with original idea does not need much money. When you scale up the research, you need money. (2) Secure the time to think. (3) Afford to look at other research fields. Not be afraid to enter other fields. Innovation is often done by a new comer. (4) Lucky and unlucky repeat.
