Breakage process is an important, yet mostly unexplored phenomenon in a spray fluidized bed granulation process. In this work, the selection function for breakage process is modeled based on the results of constant number Monte Carlo simulation. Here Monte Carlo simulation results are used as the alternative to lab-experimental results. It is found that, the selection function is directly correlated with the overall success factor, collision frequency per particle, total number of particles in the system and the moments of the number density function. Furthermore, another discretized population balance equation is introduced with the discrete form of the breakage distribution function to compute the total number of particles and size distribution of particles numerically. Also, the main properties of a particulate process, such as total number of particles, degree of breakage and size distribution of particles are validated successfully.
