Gene Regulation Engineering

Co-chair(s)

Chen, Y., Harvard Society of Fellows

The regulation of gene expression dictates cellular processes in all forms of life with broad applications in biotechnology and medicine. Controlling life's processes thus requires a detailed understanding of the underlying gene regulatory mechanisms as well as approaches to manipulate existing regulatory interactions and to introduce new ones. For this session, we invite high-quality presentations that improve our ability to understand, predict, and control gene expression through the quantitative characterization of its many molecular interactions. Presentations on the construction and application of gene regulatory systems also will be considered. Potential topics include protein-based and RNA-based regulation at the levels of transcription, translation, RNA stability, and RNA processing that span single-gene and genome-wide interactions. Presentations that address gene regulation in industrial and medically relevant organisms particularly are encouraged.
