(698b) Green Power Production From Natural Gas

Natural gas accounts for 22% of the electrical power production in the US, a figure which means a massive carbon dioxide emission to the atmosphere which results in a notable environmental impact. In an effort to avoid such emissions we are proposing an idea in which existing technologies could be used in a unique design for the cogeneration of electrical power and economically valuable chemicals that would be produces via further processing of the carbon dioxide resulting from the natural gas processing. The design proposed might offer a slight decline in electrical power output compared to existing power plants but further economical analysis provides interesting findings in support of the new design in which the chemicals produced as co product could be marketable as a new source of revenue. The idea proposed discusses a sustainable system of producing power and formic acid via natural gas and provides flow sheet simulation through uni sim.
