(423f) On Random Packing Distributors and Systems

The impacts of liquid distribution on random packing performance have been known for a long time.  There are good distributors and bad distributors, but also, there are good distributors and better distributors.  When vendors of random packings talk about "systems," they are referring to the combination of the packings and the associated hardware, e.g., vapor distributors, support plates, wall wipers, block designs, hold-down grids, liquid distributors, pre-distributors, redistributors, transition hardware, etc.  Systems can be optimized.
