It will offer advice on identifying suitable career goals and specific objectives, and developing a plan to achieve them. Special attention will be devoted to establishing a funded research program. Elements of the career plan will include: • Navigating the Job Search Process (research and teaching plans, interviewing, start-up packages) • Establishing a Research Program (obtaining funding, Career Award preparation, problem identification & selection, contacting funding sources, network development) • Understanding the University Environment (tenure & promotion, service activities, sabbaticals, reward structure, mentoring expectations) • Managing Your Time (goal setting & priorities, stress reduction, good habits) The workshop will take place during a 3-hour period on Sunday, prior to the Meet the Faculty Candidate Poster.
