REACH is new legislation for the control of chemicals in the European Union. It became effective on June 1, 2007 and over the next eleven years it will have a significant impact on all chemical companies who do business in the EU. The cost to the chemical industry of complying with REACH has been estimated at over $30 billion. Chemicals which do not comply with the REACH regulation will be excluded from import/manufacture in the EU. This presentation will focus on what US chemical companies need to do in order to continue marketing their products in the EU. It will also cover some of the main problems that US companies will face in seeking to comply with REACH.
