Please join us for our May AIChE Meeting on Wednesday May 6, 2015 featuring a tour of the jointly owned Cenovus and Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery. The refinery is operated by Phillips 66. Process engineer Greg Witte will be giving us a tour featuring several of the major unit operations. Before the tour, Larry Barringer will give a “Refining 101” presentation.

To ensure there is plenty of daylight to see the plant, we will be meeting earlier than normal. Please see the schedule below:

4:30 – 4:45 PM: Registration
5:00 – 6:00 PM: “Refining 101” Training Room 1, Main Office
6:15 - ~7:15 PM: Tour of Wood River Refinery
7:30 PM: Dinner at Bella Milano in Edwardsville

Because we will be touring the refinery by bus, due to the large plot space of the refinery as well as proper PPE and safety training requirements required to be in operating units, we will be limiting the first round of reservations to thirty AIChE local section and five student members. Please RSVP to Vice Chair Drew Dusenberry by Monday April 13th.  If space is still available after this date, we will RSVP non-local section and additional student members until Friday April 17th.

Please RSVP to ddusenberry@burnsmcd.com with May AIChE Meeting in the subject line. Please respond with the following information:

  1. Full Name (as shown on your driver’s license)
  2. Driver’s License Number (required for security to enter the plant, a social security number will also work for those who may not have a driver’s license)
  3. If you will also be attending dinner at Bella Milano after the tour.

The cost for attending the meeting will be $20 for local section members and $10 for students. Cost will cover the cost of renting the tour bus. Our local section currently has a grant request in with national AIChE to cover the cost of renting the bus. However; we will not know until the end of April if that request has been granted. If the request is granted, the cost of the tour will be waved. Dinner cost will be up to the individual and paid to the restaurant.

Parking at Wood River Refinery will take place in the parking lot north of the Main Office Building. This will be the parking lot to the left of the main entrance to the refinery. The main entrance will be the first right traveling north of the intersection of Illinois 111 and Madison Street in Roxana, Illinois.
