Speaker Bio

Chris Haussmann holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington and a MS from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.  He started his career as one of RCC’s original process engineers.

After working as one of RCC’s (now located in Bellevue) original process engineers, Chris form Water Systems Specialists, Inc., an engineering firm specializing in industrial water treatment and desalination systems, especially evaporative and membrane separation processes like brine concentrators, reverse osmosis and ultra filtration.

Chris has been involved in projects worldwide working with power plants, State agencies in Washington and California, the US Navy, Boeing, large engineering companies and research institutes, including EPRI and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Chris holds a PE license in the State of Washington and California.

Presentation Abstract

The presentation will be based on Chris Haussmann’s recent experiences working at the world’s biggest coal liquefaction plant, located in Inner Mongolia, China. Chris was involved in the final phases of the startup and demonstration of a 1,000 gpm GE-RCC supplied multi effect evaporator system, which provides the zero liquid discharge treatment for the plant’s diverse wastewater streams.

During his four trips to Inner Mongolia, each of a two to four week on-site duration, Chris was able to observe Chinese engineering, management, construction and operation practices from the ground level.

He will share some of his insights, observations and experiences regarding the specific plant operations and of China in general.
