September Chapter Meeting Recap

Thank you to all those who attended our September Chapter Meeting, hosted by Teeny Foods with a tour of their facility!  This event was interesting and informative - thank you Teeny Foods!

The Teeny Foods Tour on September 17, 2014 gave special insight into the complexities and technologies of production baking.  Chemical Engineer Michel Layoun, V.P. Operations at Teeny Foods, walked our group through the process.  He started with a brief history of the family-owned business and the tight controls kept over inventory levels and turnover.  We viewed mixers, rollers, cutters and the amazing spiral belts through the proofing and cooling rooms. Michel talked about switching products and continuous processing of what is essentially a batch process.  And, of course, the smell of baking breads was incredible.  With a small, efficient, hard-working staff Teeny Foods has achieved great respect in a competitive industry.   If you haven't read the success story on their website, it is very interesting.

Following the tour the group adjoined to Frances Xavier restaurant to enjoy good food and share experiences.  Michel joined us and continued answering our questions.  Thanks Teeny Food and Michel Layoun for a great experience.

Join is October 15th for our next meeting!
