Foundation Raises $1 Million in 2012

2012 was a year of fundraising success and growth in program support thanks to the generous support from individuals and corporations. The AIChE Foundation raised over one million dollars from existing and new campaigns, a 50% increase in revenue versus 2011. Unrestricted Annual Fund giving totaled $290K—a 59% increase from the previous year. This vital unrestricted support provided funding for a range of programmatic needs, including:

The 2012 AIChE Gala, “Celebrating 50 Years of Engineering a Sustainable Future”, raised over $370K in corporate and individual gifts, a growth of 25% versus 2011. Proceeds from the gala are being used to support the Institute for Sustainability programs. In addition, ScaleUp revenues from corporate support continued to thrive in 2012 bringing in $170K, a growth of 36% versus 2011. This growing level of philanthropic engagement in AIChE enables us, as chemical engineers, to expand our ability to impact global society and improve the lives of people worldwide.

And, finally, together with the Society for Biological Engineering, the AIChE Foundation raised over $120,000 last year toward the launch of the Daniel I. C. Wang Award for Excellence in Biochemical Engineering. Thanks to the overwhelmingly generous gifts from the award’s Founding Donors, AIChE will be able to endow the D.I.C. Wang Award and annually present it to a leader in the field of biochemical engineering and biotechnology for many years to come.

Thank you to our donors for your commitment and backing in achieving last year’s successes.
