Zoë Wattis, PhD, is a principal consultant for DNV and has 24 years’ experience within the Safety Risk team based in the U.K. (Email: zoe.wattis@dnv.com). She specializes in leading and providing technical support for both onshore and offshore technical safety and failure frequencies. This includes the delivery of a whole range of safety studies from concept design through to as-built. Wattis is technical lead for the development of CloudQRA, a web-based QRA package for use in offshore risk assessment. As part of this work, Wattis, jointly with Paul Murray, oversaw the development of a new graphical interface for CloudQRA. The interface allows the user to develop a simplified process flow diagram, as well as layer structural and process equipment onto imported plot plans of the facility. Recent work has seen her extend her knowledge into considering the risk associated with introducing hydrogen in the gas network. Wattis has a PhD from the Univ. of Nottingham, U.K., and has presented at several conferences and published several papers in journals and technical publications.
