Stephanie Culler Co-Founder and CEOPersephone BiomeStephanie Culler, PhD, is co-founder and CEO of Persephone Biome, Inc. Prior to establishing Persephone Biome, she was a senior scientist at Genomatica, where she has developed and applied synthetic biology tools toward the engineering of microorganisms as biocatalysts for the industrial production of sustainable chemicals. She has led the development of cell-free transcription-translation (TX-TL) technologies for industrial metabolic engineering and successfully demonstrated the production in TX-TL of Genomatica’s platform chemicals. Since joining the company in August 2010 to June 2017, she has led two major programs focused on delivering bioprocesses utilizing syngas as a feedstock for the production of chemicals and the direct production of bio-butadiene from renewable sugars. Culler received her BS from the Univ. of California at San Diego and her PhD from the California Institute of Technology, both in chemical engineering.
