Staff Scientist, Center for Functional Nanomaterials
Brookhaven National Laboratory - BNL
Dr. Sooyeon Hwang is a materials scientist and electron microscopist. She earned her Ph.D. from KAIST in South Korea, where she investigated the thermal stability of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries using in situ transmission electron microscopy. Currently, Dr. Hwang is a staff scientist at the Center for Functional Nanomaterials, Brookhaven National Laboratory. Her research focuses on elucidating the working and degradation mechanisms of energy materials, including batteries and catalysts, at atomic scale using scanning transmission electron microscopy.
