Sankar Nair, PhD, is a Professor, Associate Chair, and Simmons Faculty Fellow in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests are in the science and engineering of nanoporous materials and their use in the development of sustainable chemical processes. Nair obtained his BTech in chemical engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 1997, and his PhD in chemical engineering at Univ. of Massachusetts Amherst in 2002 under the direction of Prof. Michael Tsapatsis in the area of zeolite materials and membranes. His work at Georgia Tech has focused on nanoporous membrane and adsorption-based systems and processes that can enable new technological paths in biorefining, industrial water management, plastics upcycling, and CO2 utilization. Nair has authored or coauthored nearly 200 publications and holds 20 granted patents. He is an Executive Editor of Chemical Engineering Science.
