Rafiqul Gani, PhD, is currently a distinguished visiting professor at Zhejiang Univ., at Tsinghua Univ., and at Texas A&M Univ. For 34 years, he worked at the Dept. of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, Technical Univ. of Denmark, and is the former head and co-founder of CAPEC. Gani served as an editor-in-chief of the journal Computers & Chemical Engineering and currently serves on the editorial advisory boards of several journals. He has been awarded Doctor Honoris Causa degrees from Univ. Politehnica Bucharest, Univ. of Pannonia, and Babes-Bolyai Univ. He is a past president of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), a member of the Danish Academy of Science, and a Fellow of AIChE and of IChemE. He was awarded the AIChE Computing in Chemical Engineering award in 2015 and the EFCE Jacques Villermaux Medal in 2019. In 2018, Gani co-founded PSE for SPEED Co. His research interests include the development and application of computer-aided methods and tools for modeling, and process-tools integration with emphasis on energy, sustainability, and application of a systems approach.
