Paul W. Hill is Vice President of Process Development and Engineering at Amyris, Inc. (Email: hill@amyris.com), where he oversees the creation and implementation of unit operations that maximize the potential of Amyris-developed microorganisms by cost-efficiently producing, isolating, and purifying novel products that meet customer specifications. For the past fourteen years, he has led or contributed to the development and transfer of novel Amyris fermentation and recovery process operations for various gaseous, liquid, and solid products to multiple facilities on three continents. Prior to Amyris, he helped develop high-productivity fermentation and cell culture processes and efficient product isolation steps as a fermentation and recovery scientist at Chiron and R.W.J Pharmaceutical Research Institute. He received a BA from Dartmouth College, and a BE in general engineering and ME in biochemical engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. He is a member of AIChE.
